Houston, TX., August 21, 2023 – — Sisters Network® Inc. (SNI), the largest and only national Black breast cancer survivor-run organization today announced Sisters Network® Inc. Young Sisters Initiative Pink Power Tour: “A Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) Talk with My Sisters.”

The 5-City Tour kicked off successfully in Charleston, South Carolina with a great turnout in Orlando, FL.

The tour’s next stop is Nashville, TN. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Millennium Maxwell House Nashville Hotel, 2025 Rosa L Parks Blvd., Nashville, TN., 37228. SNI Nashville, TN. Affiliate chapter will serve as co-host of the event. The event is free and open to the public. To register, please R.S.V.P. to nashvillepinkpowertour@sistersnetworkinc.org or call (866) 781-1808.

For nearly three decades, Sisters Network® Inc. has been committed to increasing local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the Black community. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype of invasive breast cancer that disproportionately affects Black women and contributes to racial disparities in breast cancer mortality.

The goal of the 5-City Pink Power Tour is to educate Black women about the TNBC crisis impacting Black women, empower TNBC patients through their journey, and discuss the importance of clinical trial participation and knowing your family history, and how to be your own self-advocate. The Pink Power tour cities were chosen statistically to have a high number of Black women diagnosed in those states.

“Sisters Network Nashville has been one of our affiliate chapters in existence for the past 23 years and we are excited to bring the Pink Power Tour to one of our established chapters,” stated Karen E. Jackson, Founder/CEO, Sisters Network® Inc. During those years, the Nashville chapter has shared breast cancer awareness information, nutritional advice, and financial help to African American survivors in underserved areas in their community.”

According to the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition (TBCC), less than 15% of women with breast cancer have a family history of the disease. African American women have a higher rate of death from breast cancer than any other race and about 42,690 women died from breast cancer in 2020 in the United States, including 950 from Tennessee.

“We are very blessed and excited to have The Pink Power Tour come to Nashville, TN,” stated Doris McLay, President Nashville Affiliate Chapter. “The tour is especially important because it shares information that educates and reaches the underserved areas in Nashville, Tennessee. We are excited for these areas to know more about Triple Negative Breast Cancer amongst the African American population in Nashville. This tour will help empower our community with this knowledge.”

The 2023 Pink Power Tour is powered by MERCK and supported by Genentech.

Upcoming Pink Power Tour cities include:

    Montgomery, AL Saturday, October 21st from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. @ Embassy Suites Montgomery Hotel
