NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 6, 2022) – After a two-year hiatus, The Equity Alliance will host its third annual Black Women’s Empowerment Brunch to recognize and celebrate Black women across the state for their social, political and business contributions. In addition to the brunch, this year the nonprofit will host a daylong summit, and both events will take place July 9 and 10 at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

“Black women in Tennessee are diligently serving, thriving, and leading at home, throughout their communities, at work, and in entrepreneurship. As an organization, these are the things that we love to see and encourage. That’s why we’re taking it to another level with two exciting days of opportunities to network, celebrate, affirm and empower each other,” said Charlane Oliver, TEA co-founder and co-executive director.

During the summit on Saturday, July 9, attendees can look forward to workshops and breakout sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including a “Pink Table Talk” with TEA’s founders and other speakers on a range of topics to include entrepreneurship, wealth building, relationships, career development, women’s reproductive health, beauty and wellness, and civic leadership. The summit will also feature a vendor marketplace powered by The Nashville Black Market, an interactive photo booth and luncheon.

The brunch on Sunday, July 10, will recognize three trailblazing women in politics and community advocacy: Dr. Adrienne Battle, director of Metro Nashville Public Schools; Pamela “P. Moses” Moses, community activist; and Rosetta Perry, founder and editor of The Tennessee Tribune.

The catered brunch will be larger this year and include live performances, an open bar and networking reception. The weekend’s honorary chair will be the Honorable Brenda Wynn, and the weekend’s host will be model and journalist Debria Love.
Tickets for the full weekend are $150, with single day options of $75 for the summit and $100 for the brunch. The VIP package is $300 and includes preferred seating, a private hospitality lounge, express entry to events, and a meet and greet with speakers. “Pay It Forward” tickets are available for $100 for anyone who would like to buy a weekend pass for another woman.

“Our previous brunches drew 300 to 400 attendees including community leaders, corporate sponsors, elected officials and Black women from various walks of life,” said Tequila Johnson, TEA co-founder and co-executive director. “This year’s expanded format enables us to do more to honor the fullness of Black womanhood.”
