NASHVILLE, TN —Jennifer Hudson was the big winner Saturday night at the 2022 NAACP Image Awards. These annual awards honor achievement by people of color in culture and entertainment. The ceremony aired on BET and was hosted by Anthony Anderson, currently starring in “Law & Order” and “Black-ish,” as well as hosting “To Tell The Truth.” Hudson earned Entertainer of the Year and Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance as Aretha Franklin in the film “Respect.”
Saturday’s honorees were the last among winners in 80 categories. Other winners had previously been announced during virtual ceremonies held throughout last week. Regina King, Kevin Hart and Taraji P. Henson were among the artists recognized pre-telecast.

The film “The Harder They Fall,” a contemporary Black western, won the Outstanding Motion Picture Award. “Judas and the Black Messiah,” had two of its stars were nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category, with Daniel Kaluuya winning the award.
Will Smith’s portrayal of Richard Williams, the father turned tennis coach who helped turn daughters Venus and Serena into all-time greats, earned him the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture award. Regina King was selected Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for “The Harder They Fall.” “Encantor” won the Outstanding Animated Motion Picture award. In its final season, “Insecure” was chosen “Outstanding Comedy series, and host Anderson earned Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in “Black-ish,” also in its final season.
