Ananya Panday And Mumbai Police Join Hands To Raise Awareness About Cyberbullying

MUMBAI, India —Bollywood actor Ananya Panday has partnered with Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sandeep Karnik, Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Dattatray Dnyaneshwar Bhojane, and Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Ajay Kashinath Patil of Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime branch to raise awareness about cyberbullying and discuss issues faced by the youth in cyberspace.

During the virtual interaction, the actor asked the experts how people could fortify their social media space and prevent themselves from getting bullied on social media.

Speaking about her experience, Panday said that her interaction with the authorities has been insightful, and the information obtained was authentic since it was coming straight from them.

“The conversation I had with the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sandeep Karnik, Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Dattatray Dnyaneshwar Bhojane, and Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Ajay Kashinath Patil of Mumbai Police at the Cyber Crime branch was really insightful,” she said.

“Discussing the various aspects of cyberbullying and ways to keep social media profiles safe has helped me understand so much.”

“We often talk about the negative side of social media – the bullying, trolling, and hatred. During the pandemic, I saw the power of people on social media- the humanity. Strangers helping strangers, sharing resources and information, saving lives,” said Panday in her tweet.

“Through this, our hope is that it helps all users of various social media platforms as well. It is really commendable the work they have been doing to keep cyberspace clean and safe.”

“This interaction was another step we took to spread awareness about cyberbullying, coming from the officers themselves — the information is legitimate, verified, and accessible on our social media handle too now.”

Panday recently extended the scope of her Digital Social Responsibility “So Positive,” as she launched another initiative, “Social Media for Social Good,” to hail good Samaritans who have used social media for the greater good of the society.

The actor launched the “So Positive” campaign in 2019 to raise awareness against cyberbullying and spread kindness in the social media space.

The “Student of The Year 2” actor lost her grandmother, Snehlata Panday, on July 10 and penned a heartfelt note in her memory on her Instagram handle.

Panday wrote how the deceased family member inspired her every day.

“Rest in power, my angel,” her caption read.

“When she was born, the doctors said she wouldn’t live beyond a few years because of a defected heart valve, but my dadi lived and how. She worked every day up until the age of 85, going to work at 7 am in her block heels and red-streaked hair.”

“She inspired me every single day to do what I love, and I’m so grateful to have grown up basking in her energy and light.”

Adding to her emotional note, the actress recalled how her grandmother was the life of their family and never failed to make her laugh.

“She had the softest hands to hold, gave the best leg massages, she was a self-proclaimed (and very politically incorrect) palm reader and never ever failed to make me laugh,” her caption further read.

“The life of our family. You’re too loved to ever be forgotten, Dadi — I love you so much.”

Meanwhile, Panday will be seen sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Shakun Batra’s next film.
