    NASHVILLE, TN  — Ben  R. Rechter, a prominent Nashville businessman and philanthropist will be honored on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Hilton Nashville Downtown.  This is a Celebration honoring Ben R. Rechter as Nashvillian of the Year by Easter Seals Tennessee.

    Ben R. Rechter, a prominent Nashville businessman and philanthropist is President of Rogers Group Investments, Inc. Born in Bloomington Indiana, Mr. Rechter moved around quite often until he settled in Music City in 1972 from East Tennessee. Since establishing himself here, his involvement and contributions to the benefit and progress of Nashville and its citizens have been extraordinary.

    Mr. Rechter’s civic service and leadership continues to positively impact the lives of others. Currently, Ben Rechter serves as a Trustee of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, Emeritus Board Member of Nashville Public Television, a Member of the Society of International Business Fellows, and a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM). In the past, he has served as Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Middle Tennessee, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, St. Thomas Health Services, Nashville Public Television, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Fisk University, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and the Nashville Symphony Association. He has participated as a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Education Foundation, Metro Development & Housing Agency, and the Nashville Urban League, to name a few.

    Over the years Rechter has received numerous awards and recognition for his vision and efforts. Among them are the Nashville Urban League Equal Opportunity Award, Tennessee Performing Arts Center Applause Award, Jewish National Fund “Tree of Life” Award, Anti-Defamation League Americanism Award, United Way, Alexis de Tocqueville Award, Public Broadcasting Service Public Television Development Leadership Award, Joe Kraft Humanitarian Award, Seton Society, and most recently, The Community Foundation- Bridges to Equality Award in 2016. He is also the recipient of the Doctor of Humane Letters Honorary Degrees from Fisk University, Meharry Medical College, and American Sentinel University, as well as, being awarded the Doctor of Humanities Honorary Degree from Belmont University. Rechter has devoted his civic life to promoting inclusiveness and to reaching out to help others attain equality; therefore creating opportunities for everyone.

    In his spare time Ben R. Rechter enjoys golf, cheering on the Predators, and being with his family. His family consists of his wife, Joan, three children and six grandchildren.
