NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers will perform to benefit the Lee Chapel afterschool literacy and tutorial program on Oct. 27, 6 p.m. This extraordinary event, hosted jointly by Lee Chapel AME Church and Woodmont Christian Church, promises an evening of soul-stirring music while supporting educational improvement in North Nashville.
The event will be held at Woodmont Christian Church, located at 3601 Hillsboro Pike. Tickets are $50.
All proceeds from the event will directly support the Lee Chapel afterschool literacy and tutorial program, which serves elementary students in North Nashville. This vital program aims to improve reading proficiency and academic performance among local youth, addressing a critical need in the community.
“Reading proficiency is not just about academic success; it’s about building a foundation for a successful life,” said Karen Woolridge, program director. “Our tutoring program is designed to give students the support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.”
The Fisk Jubilee Singers, celebrating over 150 years of musical excellence, continue to honor the African American spiritual as a national treasure. Founded in 1871 to raise funds for Fisk University, this ensemble has gone on to achieve international acclaim, preserving and sharing this rich musical tradition.
