NASHVILLE, TN, March 6, 2024 — Vivian Wilhoite, Davidson County Assessor of Property, soundly defeated Nashville’s African American coalitions of opponents who were determined to destroy her political career for previously running for Mayor of Nashville (as if Nashville would elect a Black female mayor). Many Nashvillians felt that was unfair because, as they stated, that no African American could obtain enough votes for Mayor because the Black political community has historically been split as proven in this election.
Vivian Wilhoite won the Democratic primary by defeating an inexperienced political challenger by a nearly 2-1 margin.
The Assessor of Property office is not about politics, but is responsible for appraising the value of every parcel of land in Davidson County, which is used to determine how properties are taxed. Nashvillians do not need now or in the future an inexperienced assessor of property. Furthermore, there are too many husbands and wives, children, grandchildren working in Metro, we don’t need anymore. There are those educated persons in the community who should have a fair opportunity for Metro jobs, but denied for over a century because of the hiring of wives, children, and relatives. Now let’s stop attacking the white community about hate when we have plenty in our community! Enough is enough!
“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.”
— Coretta Scott King, activist
