NASHVILLE, TN — With more and more artists set to begin touring in the wake of the pandemic seeming to ease some, one of the nation’s most engaging and popular women performers will be coming to Nashville soon. The singer and songwriter Lizzo will begin her latest national tour this fall, and she’s heading to Nashville Oct. 23 at Bridgestone Arena. Tickets will go on sale Friday nationwide.

Her latest LP “Special” is due in July. There’s already a hit single available “About Damn Time.” This tour will be produced by Live Nation and start September 23 in Sunrise, Florida. It will run through November and some other stops include New York City and Los Angeles. Atlanta rapper Latto will be the special guest and opening act.

The tour will continue what has already been a very busy year for Lizzo. She was both host and featured performer on an edition of “Saturday Night Live.” She also has been featured on both NBC’s “The Today Show” and CBS’ Late Late Show with James Corden.” Lizzo’s also currently featured on Amazon Prime Video’s reality Show “Lizzo’s Watch Out  For The Big Grrls.”

A Detroit native who later relocated to Houston, Lizzo has emerged as one of Hip-Hop and contemporary R&B’s prime performers. She’s now based in Minneapolis. Her first two studio albums were “Headbangers” in 2013 and “Big Grrl” in 2015. Then came the EP “Coconut Oil,” her first major label date. Then her third studio LP “Cuz I Love You” in 2019 was the one that made her a star. It peaked in the top five of the Billboard 200, and included two hits in the singles “Juice” and “Tempo.”

Born in Detroit, Michigan, she later moved to Houston, Texas, where she began performing before moving to Minneapolis, where she began her recording career in hip hop music. Prior to signing with Nice Life and Atlantic Records, Lizzo released two studio albums—Lizzobangers (2013) and Big Grrrl Small World (2015). Lizzo’s first major-label EP, Coconut Oil, was released in 2016.

Lizzo attained mainstream success with the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You (2019), which peaked inside the top five of the US Billboard 200. The album spawned the singles “Juice” and “Tempo” Lizzo received eight nominations at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, the most for any artist that year, including Album of the Year for the deluxe version of “Cuz I Love You,” Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Truth Hurts”, as well as Best New Artist. She eventually won the awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for the song “Jerome”.

She’s also expanded into acting.  Lizzo served as a voice performer in the animated film “Ugly Dolls” and appeared in the crime comedy-drama film “Hustlers,” both in 2019. That same year Time named her  “Entertainer of the Year. Lizzo has also won a Billboard Music Award, a BET Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards.
