NASHVILLE, TN — The Education Equal Opportunity Group (EEOG) launches their Third Annual Summer Enrichment and Technology Program. From July 10 to July 21, high school students will have the opportunity to learn about coding, video game design, financial literacy, conversational Spanish and character development.

The program will be held at the American Baptist College Susie McClure Library located at 1800 Baptist World Center Drive in Nashville from Monday, July 10 – Friday July 21 at 8 am to 12:30 pm. The cost is $100 registration fee – used for a certificate of deposit for a 5-year term and the $100 Registration Fee Doubles as First Investment for Participating Student.

“To be competitive in the world in which we live, we encourage students to pursue careers in the Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) profession,” explains George Thomas, Founder and President of the EEOG. “Right now, not enough of our youth have access to quality STEM learning opportunities and too few students see these disciplines as springboards for their careers. That’s why we host this summer program, to help them get ahead.”

The EEOG’s annual summer program provides a structured program to teenagers who would otherwise have no access to leadership and personal development enrichment activities during the summer.  For the past two years the Summer Enrichment program has given 30 high school students the opportunity to grow and learn through networking, training and leadership programs.

The purpose of the EEOG program is to provide intensive academic instruction during the school year and the summer months to promote college and career readiness for students in grades 9 through 12, who have been identified as being at risk of dropping out of school. For more than 16 years, EEOG has invested in students, creating meaningful experiences and providing positive pathways for success. EEOG is a culturally diverse organization centered in self-efficacy with a goal of meeting the unmet needs of today’s students to lead them to the ultimate goal of success. EEOG centers its programs around providing students with a positive environment as part of the learning process and focuses on preparing emerging student leaders to become armed with a wealth of knowledge. EEOG sets up students to gain exposure in their field of interest by participating in internships, and to be prepared for all educational and career opportunities at any given time.

George Thomas is the Founder and President of the Education Equal Opportunity Group (EEOG), a 501c(3) organization.  For more than 16 years, EEOG has provided character, leadership and personal development training to over 18,000 high school students. George, a native of St. Louis, Mo., received his Bachelors of Business Administration at Tennessee State University.  He has more than 20 years of experience in public service and has been nominated for various awards and recognition including selection as a leading community activist by the Future Ready Nashville campaign. George is involved in multiple organizations, serving as the Vice Chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Metropolitan Development Housing Agency (MDHA), board member for Prohealth Rural Healthcare, Chairman for the George Thomas Scholarship Fund and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
