NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Parks reopened Hartman Park Regional Community Center on Monday, November 28. After an extensive renovation, the community center, located at 2801 Tucker Road, Nashville welcomed regulars and visitors with gleaming facilities that offer a variety of options for exercise, recreation, sports, and educational classes, after school program, multi-use meeting space, and game room. Children, adults, and seniors are all welcome.

Currently, new fitness equipment has been ordered for the fitness room. To celebrate the reopening of the Hartman Park Community Center free admission to the fitness center through the end of 2022 is offered.

    Some of the renovations include:

    • New flooring installed throughout the building.

    • All interior areas re-painted, including the pool and locker rooms.

    • New LED lights in the gym, game room, walking track, fitness, and pool areas.

    • New dehumidification unit for the pool area.

    • New toilets and flush valves in the pool area.

    • New showerheads and shower wands in the pool area.

    • New water heater for the pool area showers.

    • New doors are to be installed in the pool area.

    • New counters for the lobby and fitness areas.

    • New kitchen cabinets with new appliances.

    • New field lights were installed in the  open-area fitness/sports field.

Earlier in the summer a major landscaping project was completed with  shrubs,     trees  as well as a water source   so that the plants are now  watered without the use of a tank truck.

Hartman Park Regional Community Center is the hub of the Bordeaux in North Nashville.  The park was named in honor of Richard W. Hartman, who for   years worked with the youth of Bordeaux. Little else is known about Mr. Hartman. There was only one newspaper clipping from 1964 mentioning the park and/or Mr. Hartman.

The Park opened   in 2006  and is the 2nd installment of regional community centers in the Metro Parks system. Hartman   the home of Metro Parks’ Dolphins Swim Team,    serves the community through vibrant afterschool programming and  a senior line dance program.

Hartman Park was built in 1964, and at 54 acres, has a community center, playground, restrooms, baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, swimming pool, a paved walking/jogging path. The land was originally the grounds of the Metro Convalescent Hospital but was transferred to the Parks Department in 1964. It was named for Richard W. Hartman, a community leader who worked with the youth of Bordeaux. Metro Police has used a portion of the park for police. The swimming pool was opened in 1998. The park underwent a renovation in 2010. This park was once noted for being the least maintained with trash and debris everywhere and was poorly maintained. The land was originally the grounds of the Metro Convalescent Hospital but was transferred to the Parks Department in 1964. It was named for Richard W. Hartman, a community leader who worked with the youth of Bordeaux. Metro Police have used a portion of the park for police training since 1983. The swimming pool was opened in 1998. The park underwent a renovation in 2010. It does host The Whites Creek Greenway a short, multi-use trail that runs along Whites Creek from Hartman Park south to Clarksville Pike.
