On Saturday, February 22nd, the Nashville Chapter of Les Gemmes, Incorporated, hosted a transformative workshop for their Lighting the Path for Girls initiative. This event provided our young ladies, affectionately known as ‘Jewels,’ with a memorable weekend of education and enlightenment. Reverend Jeff Obafemi Carr spiritual Teacher, community activist, writer and artist enlightened the Jewels with a compelling overview of Black History and Nashville’s pivotal role in the civil rights movement.
As the Jewels explored historical narratives, they also learned vital lessons about self-care. Ms. Sydnei Page Everett Executive Director of the Mother and Daughter Experience delivered an engaging presentation on the importance of personal wellness, emphasizing that taking care of oneself today is crucial for securing a successful tomorrow. The workshop not only educated the Jewels about the past but also equipped them with the tools to nurture their future.
