NASHVILLE, TN — With the start of school only a few days away for Metro Nashville students, a popular and annual festival signals their return to the classrooms. It’s the 11th Love’s Health Start Festival on Aug. 3 at the Hadley Park Community gymnasium.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m. It’s a chance for school kids to have some fun, parents to enjoy it with them, and also to promote education and literacy, the principal reasons why Rep. Dr. Harold M. Love Jr. started it.
There’s free food and refreshments, a variety of activities for children and free school supplies for families. In addition there are free health screenings and free hair cuts offered.
There still may be opportunities for vendors, so anyone who is interested in participation at that level, or just wants more information about what will be happening on that day should call 615-741-3831.
Past festivals have also featured a health fair and both instrumental and vocal performances, as well as information from several local organizations including Tennessee State University, and Metro Nashville Public Schools providing resources and tips for those headed back to school.
School for Metro Nashville students starts on Aug. 6.
