NASHVILLE, TN — Fresh off winning its 95th Emmy award, “Saturday Night Live” announced last week that Maya Rudolph will be the host Saturday night. The musical guest will be Vampire Weekend. Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal will host the 49th season finale May 18 with musical guest Sabrina Carpenter. Dua Lipa was last week’s both guest host and musical guest.
Rudolph is a five-time Emmy winner who hosts for the third time. Gyllenhaal is also making his third appearance as host. Rudolph was an “SNL” cast member from 2000-2007. Since leaving she’s not only been in multiple films but starred in the NBC sitcom “Up All Night” from 2011-2012 and co-hosted the variety comedy show “Maya & Marty” in 2016. She earned three Emmy nominations for her role in the 2018-2020 series “The Good Place,” and now stars and executive produces “Loot” for Apple TV +..
The current regular “SNL” cast members are Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang. The featured players are: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, Chloe Troast and Devon Walker.
The show’s famed “Weekend Update” is once again anchored by Jost and Che, as they’ve done every week together since September 2014. As of the 47th season two years ago, they are officially the longest-serving duo in the history of “Weekend Update.”
“Saturday Night Live” airs on WSMV-4 at 9 p.m. CDT.
