NASHVILLE, TN — Former First Lady Michelle Obama and current CBS News anchor and CNN talk show host Gayle King are among the list of distinguished individuals who were named last week winners of the 49th annual Gracie Awards. These are presented by The Alliance For Women in Media Foundation. They recognize outstanding achievements by women in news, entertainment and digital media.
Others on the 2024 list include Glennon Doyle, Selena Gomez, Sydney Sweeney, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Nicole Kidman and Angela Yee. The winners will receive their awards at a gala event May 21 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. This year’s theme is centered around “feminine strength, both large and small.” Local and student honorees will receive their awards at the Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 18 in New York City.
Since leaving the White House, Michelle Obama has both authored acclaimed volumes and teamed with her husband former President Barack Obama in running a film and television production company. King is principal anchor on the weekday CBS News This Morning, and co-hosts a weekly talk show with Charles Barkley on CNN and Max.
“As Women’s History Month draws to a close, we honor the remarkable women storytellers whose courage and resilience continue to inspire us,” AWMF president Becky Brooks said. “Their stories, strengths and influence are actively shaping our present and future. The impact of women is undeniable, and we look forward to celebrating these powerful contributions and achievements at the upcoming Gracie Awards.”
