NASHVILLE, TN — Seldom does a show have such potential that it gets a season two renewal before season one begins. But that’s the case for a new show coming soon to Prime Video. It’s a program spotlighting the brilliant Washington detective Alex Cross, a creation of the prolific author James Patterson. The first Cross novel was written in 1993, and there have been 32 primary and 36 total works featuring the character.
Prime Video announced during the winter that there would be a new Alex Cross show debuting either in the spring or summer. Now they’ve announced it would be renewed for a second season, despite the lack of any episodes having yet been shown.
The program stars Aldis Hodge in the title role and is a joint venture of Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television. The show is titled “Cross.” The first season cast also includes Ryan Eggold, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Johnny Ray Gill, Eloise Mumford and Siobhan Murphy. Wes Chatham, Matthew Lillard and Jeanine Mason will join Hodge in Season 2.
Hodge is also a producer on the series. Ben Watkins is the showrunner and executive produces along with James Patterson, Bill Robinson and Patrick Santa for James Patterson Entertainment, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost for Skydance Television. Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, and Craig Siebels also serve as executive producers.
Prime Video has not yet announced a start date for the series or the number of episodes that will air.
