NASHVILLE, TN — The “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise that began in the ‘80s hasn’t died yet. The latest incarnation is set to appear next month, and like many other notable recent projects will be issued on a streaming platform. Netflix released the trailer for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” last week and it’s now widely available online. The film returns Eddie Murphy to the role that made him a film superstar, and is the fourth in the series. Aside from Murphy it will also feature both familiar franchise veterans some newcomers. The cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Kevin Bacon.
The plot has detective Axel Foley (Murphy) returning to the beat in Beverly Hills, but this time for a very person reason. His daughter’s (Paige) life has been threatened. The father/daughter duo later find themselves teamed with both a new partner (Gordon-Levitt) and old friends Billy Rosewood (Reinhold) and John Taggart (Ashton). In the process of the investigation, the group uncover a conspiracy that threatens not just Beverly Hills but all of the West Coast. The film was directed by Mark Molloy from a screenplay by Will Beall, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, and is based on a story by Beall.
The producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman and Murphy, with Ray Angelic, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Melissa Reid, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura executive producing.Netflix will debut “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” July 3.
