Nashville, Tenn.-The Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) is donating 500 turkeys to community members in need ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The initiative is being spearheaded by ULMT’s group violence intervention (GVI) program, and Enterprise is partnering with ULMT by providing volunteer truck drivers. ULMT will purchase the turkeys on Saturday morning and the turkeys will be distributed to the public at three separate locations across Nashville:
- Dellway Villa Apartments
- Overlook Ridge Apartments
- Edgehill Apartments
WHY: ULMT is committed to serving underserved and underrepresented groups across Middle Tennessee, and
the GVI program is a conduit for this commitment. The program helps citizens find employment, get their criminal records expunged, get their driver’s licenses restored and get vital resources, like food, diapers, medicines and hygiene products.
“Everyone deserves a hot meal, especially during the holidays and a Thanksgiving turkey is a staple tradition across American households,” says Clifton Harris, President and CEO of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee. “With one in 10 Nashvillians considered food insecure, providing a turkey on Thanksgiving will make a big difference for families living in economically disadvantaged areas.”
