NASHVILLE, TN — This spring, Fox 17 News is introducing its first original program political talk show, Politics In Focus. News reporter Harriet Wallace will co-host the show alongside longtime news anchor Scott Couch. In this role, Wallace will be the first African American at Fox 17 News to host an original program produced by the media outlet.

Politics in Focus will air 9:30 a.m. every Sunday  on WZTV Fox 17 News. A panel of pundits will go head-to-head, discussing topics from the White House to the Metro Council that impact local families.

“I am beyond thrilled to host this show. It’s humbling to be a part of history and exciting to be part of a project that Nashville has needed. We’re going to bring the best to the table to iron out complex legislation and provide families with the tools needed to guide their families,” said Wallace.

Wallace, who uses her journalism skills to create a bridge between government and the governed, is no stranger to politics. She is deeply entrenched in the political community with contacts that range from affluent decision makers in the White House to community leaders of the Nashville Metro Council. She has hosted many political forums including those she’s organized. She has advised multiple candidates and elected officials on crisis management and campaign strategy. She is currently a candidate for her PhD in Public Administration with an emphasis on public policy. She’s the creator and lead host of the widely popular Pumps & Politics all-female political talk show. She is also the creator of Pumps-IN-Politics political immersion program for high school girls and college women. The program is designed to groom them professionally for careers in politics. Pumps & Politics streams weekly on PumpsandPolitics.com.

Wallace’s first experience in journalism was at the age of 13, as a Tennessee Tribune student intern. Publisher Miller Perry said, “I always knew that Harriet would do well in journalism, I called her my little “Oprah” in those days.”
