NASHVILLE, TN — On Saturday, March 17 from 10 am to 3 pm, new and soon-to-be parents across Middle Tennessee are invited to attend Baby University – a free community baby shower organized by Meharry Medical College’s Division of Public Health Practice. The event is being held at Meharry Medical College, The Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education, 1011 21st Avenue North in Nashville.
In collaboration with Meharry’s School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Graduate Studies and Research, and Meharry Medical Group, Baby University will offer a variety of resources to equip and support Nashville’s growing families. The event will feature a series of free seminars on topics ranging from general parenting and infant CPR, to breastfeeding and financial management. Parents will also have the opportunity to connect with more than 40 local businesses and organizations who will offer information on school readiness, prematurity prevention, safe sleeping habits and more.
Event attendees will be entered to win giveaway prizes throughout the day, including a grand prize stroller presented by Amerigroup. Previous giveaways have included gift cards, pack and plays, baby clothes, diaper bags and more to the event’s 300+ guests.
Baby University, an annual event organized to combat higher than average infant mortality rates in Davidson County and surrounding areas, is made possible in part by sponsorship from the Metro Public Health Department NashvilleHealth, Amerigroup, United Healthcare, Nashville General Hospital, Tennessee State University and Metro Public Schools Nashville/Davidson County.
