MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Turning science into a fun way to spend the summer will be the topic on the next “MTSU On the Record” radio program.

Host Gina Logue’s interview with Dennis Mullen, chair of the Department of Biology, will air from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, and from 6 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, July 10, on WMOT-FM Roots Radio 89.5 and www.wmot.org.

From July 11-15, students entering 10th and 11th grades will participate in activities centered around science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM disciplines, at the College of Basic and Applied Sciences’ STEM Summer Camp.

This week of fun-filled events hosted by the departments of Biology, Chemistry and Engineering Technology, will take place both on- and off-campus, and all activities are age-appropriate. Each afternoon will end at the Campus Recreation Center.

“Our approach is going to be to take all the students that have signed up for the camp, divide them up into three separate groups and then each group will spend one day in each department,” Mullen said. “Each department will have activities for that one day.”

The campers will spend Thursday, July 14, getting an overall view of how the disciplines interrelate. Attendees will spend Friday, July 15, engaged in small group activities to develop presentations. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided for each day. Registration is closed and capped at 45 campers.
