NASHVILLE, TN — In observance of the once-in-a-lifetime Great American solar eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017, Tennessee Activist Coalition, Nashville Peace & Justice, New Earth Matters TN and other partner organizations are coming together in Hadley Park for a free community celebration from 10 am till 3 pm.

Some of Tennessee’s most distinctive performing artists will grace the stage along with notable speakers lifting up the message of peace, inclusion, equality and justice. Performers as diverse as Grammy nominated singer/songwriters, Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose; spoken word, poet Khaos; the hip-swaying Spanky Fernando’s Afro Latin Juke Joint; middle eastern musicians, Dina Rae and Masood Taj; and well-loved blues/gospel singer, Paris Delane, will join a host of others entertaining attendees during the day’s festivities.

With an emphasis on the multi-cultural and richly diverse city that is Nashville, speakers as varied as Dr. Carol Paris, president, Physicians for a National Healthcare Program; Paul Galloway, American Muslim Advocacy Center; and Senior Pastor Judy Cummings, New Covenant Christian Church among others will share words of hope and encouragement as we welcome the promise ushered in by this “new” day.

“This year, New Earth Matters Tennessee, celebrates 25 years of service in Nashville,” event speaker, Sizwe Herring, “We will gather and honor this cosmic process with respect and admiration. As the new light rises we will step forward and symbolically leave the past drama and darkness behind us; a unified movement into the light.”

A  most welcome addition to the community event, Lightwave Solar is providing FREE NASA recommended eclipse viewing sunglasses to attendees who pre-register on-line at: www.tnactivists.com These glasses will be available for pick-up at the Lightwave Solar  tent on the day of the event. (please note: these glasses are available while supplies last)
