NASHVILLE, TN — He may have given up his role with “The Daily Show,” but Trevor Noah remains firmly in place with the Grammy Awards. He will serve as host for the 2024 Grammys, making this the fourth consecutive year that he’s been in that position. The Recording Academy made the announcement last Wednesday night. “I think it’s also important to acknowledge something. I’m hosting the Grammys,” Noah concurrently announced on his podcast “What Now? With Trevor Noah.” “I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.”

Nominees for the 2024 Grammys are led by SZA, who received nine nominations for her blockbuster album “SOS” and appears in three of the big four categories (with the exception of best new artist. Victoria Monét, mixing engineer Serban Ghenea, and Phoebe Bridgers are tied with seven nominations, with the latter getting nominated both as a solo artist and as part of her group Boygenius.

Eight musicians tied for six nominations: producer Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift. Overall, the top three general-field categories were largely dominated by women, as only three went to a recording from a male artist out of the 24 nominations. Swift, in the news throughout 2023 for a variety of reasons both musical and personal, could grab the biggest award of the night. “Midnights” is not only one of the nominees for Album of the Year, but if it sweeps the category that would give her a fourth victory. Another big winner could be “Barbie: The Soundtrack. It has received  12 nominations, including four out of the five slots in the songs written for visual media category.

Trevor Noah was the host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, from 2015 to 2022. He has won various awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards. Last year he also won won the Erasmus Prize. From 2010 to 2011, he hosted the late-night talk show “Tonight with Trevor Noah,” which he created and aired on M-Net and DStv.

The 66th annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday. The show is produced by Fulwell 73 Productions for the Recording Academy. Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins serve as executive producers. The event will be broadcast from Crypto.com Arena and air on CBS (locally WTVF-5) and Paramount+. It begins at 7 p.m. central.
