    18 MNPD Veterans Receiving New Ranks & Leadership Roles Effective Friday

    Nashville, Tenn. (TN Tribune)-Chief John Drake this week announced the appointment/promotion of 18 MNPD veterans into new leadership roles effective Friday. Among the 18 are 1 new inspector, 1 new commander, 1 new captain, 6 new lieutenants, and 9 new sergeants.

    “The demonstrated talent and commitment of these individuals shows that they are
    prepared and ready for these new leadership responsibilities,” Chief Drake said. “I look
    forward to watching their successes.”

    Commander Lee Kendall, a 22-year veteran who currently directs operations at the
    West Precinct, is being appointed to the rank of inspector and will serve as the executive officer in the Community Services Bureau. Kendall holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Campbellsville University and a Master’s Degree from Cumberland University.


    Captain Steven Bowers, a 15-year veteran who currently oversees the School Safety
    Division, is being appointed to the rank of commander and will direct operations at the West Precinct. Bowers holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University and a Master’sDegree from Cumberland University.


    Lieutenant Christopher Holden, a 13-year veteran who currently serves in operations for the Investigative Services Bureau, is being promoted to the rank of captain and will join the Field Supervisor Section. Holden holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.


    Sergeant Victoria Cunningham, an 11-year veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Alternative Police Reporting component, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will lead the Midtown Hills Precinct’s overnight shift. Cunningham holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.


    Sergeant John Joyce, a 10-year veteran who is currently a supervisor at West Precinct Investigations, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will lead the Midtown Hills Precinct’s evening shift. Joyce holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Michigan State University.


    Sergeant John Melia, a 12-year veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Traffic
    Division’s Motorcycle Unit, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will remain in the Traffic Division with an expanded supervisory role. Melia holds an Associate’s Degree from Nashville State Community College.


    Sergeant DeAndera Payne, a 7-year veteran who is currently a supervisor in the
    Office of Alternative Policing Strategies, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will lead the Madison Precinct’s evening shift. Payne holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University.


    Sergeant James Smallwood, a 14-year veteran who is currently on assignment as the President of the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will remain in the FOP role. Smallwood holds an Associate’s Degree from Eastern Gateway Community College.


    Sergeant Joseph Snyder, a 13-year veteran who is currently a supervisor at the Hermitage Precinct, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will lead the South Precinct’s evening shift. Snyder holds an Associate’s Degree from Camden County College.


    Officer Michael Apsey, a 10-year veteran who currently serves at the Hermitage Precinct, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct’s overnight shift. Apsey holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Ferris State University.


    Officer Andrew Brazee, an 8-year veteran who currently serves at the South Precinct, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift. Brazee holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University.


    Officer Cassandra Del Bosco, a 21-year veteran who currently serves as a recruiter for new officers, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s day shift. Del Bosco holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.


    Officer Edward Holden, an 8-year veteran who currently serves as a school resource officer, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s overnight shift. Holden holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin Pierce University.


    Officer Calen Morrison, a 14-year veteran who currently serves as a school resource officer, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift. Morrison holds an Associate’s Degree from Volunteer State Community College.


    Officer Teresah Pinho, a 6-year veteran who currently serves in the Domestic Violence Division, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the East Precinct’s day shift. Pinho holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.


    Officer Derek Sibley, a 6-year veteran who currently serves at the Madison Precinct, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s evening shift. Sibley holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee State University.


    Officer Corey Stromatt, a 13-year veteran who currently serves on the MDHA Task Force, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift.


    Officer Aaron Thomas, a 12-year veteran who currently serves as a school resource officer, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the North Precinct’s overnight shift. Thomas holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
