Nashville, Tenn. (TN Tribune)–The Dollar General Literacy Foundation will present 41 middle Tennessee schools, nonprofits and literacy organizations with more than $1.5 million in grant awards as part of its spring 2022 grant cycle to support area family, adult and summer literacy programs.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation hosts this special event in its hometown to celebrate the teachers and educators that dedicate their time, talent and passions to serving students and their families.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation was founded in 1993 by former CEO Cal Turner, Jr. in honor of his grandfather, J.L. Turner, who was functionally illiterate with only a third-grade education. Since its inception nearly 30 years ago, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has donated more than $216 million in grants and helped more than 15.4 million people improve their lives through literacy and education.
